When you're born, your Mother is your world. She is everything. You can't do anything without her. She feeds you, carries you, and sings to you, as you can't even go to sleep if she isn't by your side. Then, as you grow up, you gain more and more independence. You learn to walk, to eat, to talk, and you no longer need her for everything. Little by little, your Mother stops being your everything, as you discover there's more to this world. You grow older, start getting in trouble, she disciplines you, and you start arguing. You become a teenager, and you drift apart even more. But once you become an adult, you forget all the arguments, punishments, and quarrels, and she becomes your best friend. No matter how many friends you've made, how popular you are, or how great your social life, your Mom will be the one you can open up to. She'll be the one you go for advice, and the same way she's thought you how to walk, talk, eat, she'll now teach you how to be an adult, a wife/husband, and a parent.
